Reading the booklet “Is your bookkeeper putting you at risk?” was the trigger that made me want to join the Australian Association of Professional Bookkeepers.
Listed below are some further reasons for my decision to join—
1. The fact AAPB was a non-profit organization;
2. As I had recently started my own bookkeeping business, Professional Indemnity & Public Liability insurance was a priority and the recommendation that AAPB gave proved to be the best deal.
3. The alliances with the NSW University Atax, The Association for Payroll Professionals (TAPS), and Quicken are an asset for bookkeepers.
4. Tax Tips, Technical Updates, etc… are of great value because they are clear, concise and easy to understand.
5. The involvement of someone like Maria Benardis running the Croak feature.
6. Discussion Forums, and network of Bookkeepers in your area.
After meeting Sharyn Grant, our CEO, I realised the unbeatable value of the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Bookkeeping). GST, the thorn in every bookkeeper’s side, will no more be an issue. The extensive modules will not only lift up our standards, but also provide valuable working tools for business owners.
This new qualification make it easier to access the knowledge required to become a professional bookkeeper for anyone passionate about bookkeeping, in contrast to the perception that having completed a software program entitles someone to call themselves a bookkeeper.
I appreciate the fact that hurdles raised by the changes in the Law have been analysed, thought through and dealt with showing outstanding Customer Service towards members.
